Real Wedding Case Study : Calli & Zach
Calli and Zach planned a late November wedding in Birmingham, Alabama and wanted custom designed letterpress invites and save the dates to tie the event together.
They are a fun, creative, casual, laid back couple. Calli works for a media company but enjoys ceramics and reading. Zach is an industrial designer and loves weird movies and making homemade ice cream.
They had A LOT of ideas for their wedding. Which I love! It’s then my job to put it together in a logical, personal, creative way.
At the end of our consultation this was my list of directions:
English garden party
Moroccan flair
Elements of surprise
Jewel tones
Greenery
Fun/whimsy
Venue illustration
Personalized - always on the list
Here’s our mood board direction and initial sketches:
Calli and Zach both love watching The Crown and have traveled to England together so when talking about the feel of their wedding they envisioned an English garden party vibe. Calli also really loves Moroccan decor and wanted to incorporate that in some way.
They love live music and going to concerts so for the website card I designed it to look like a concert ticket - remember those?!
In the save the date envelope liner I tucked in personal symbols that represent them. I tied in some Moroccan flair with the tile pattern that’s actually found on the front of the venue, The Clubhouse on Highland.
The liner design for the invitation was inspired by the tile pattern on the front porch of the venue also bringing that Moroccan flair.
